IIT Delhi/Yahoo! Speaker Series presents:

Steve Gillmor
“GestureBank and the Gesture Economy”

Friday, April 28, 12:30-1:30pm

This week, we have Steve Gillmor joining us for the TechDev Speaker Series. Along with Dave Sifry of Technorati, Steve Gillmor was behind the spec for attention.xml (http://developers.technorati.com/wiki/attentionxml), an open standard built on open source that helps you keep track of what you've read, what you're spending time on, and what you should be paying attention to. Steve also co-founded AttentionTrust.org (http://www.attentiontrust.org/), which was profiled in TechCrunch (http://www.techcrunch.com/?p=100) but has since moved on to the concept of the “Gesture Economy” – for a detailed explanation of gestures in Steve’s inimitable style, be sure to read: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Gillmor/?p=189. If you never quite got what attention was, I offer this quote from Steve: “Gestures are the monetization of attention” (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Gillmor/?p=236). Come find out what that means!

Bio:
Steve Gillmor heads the Gillmor Gang podcast (http://gillmorgang.podshow.com/), a contributing editor for ZDNet, and a contributing writer for Release 1.0. His widely-read blog is at http://blogs.zdnet.com/Gillmor/. Steve will be speaking at ad:tech in SF this week and at the Syndicate conference in NY next month (“It’s the Gestures, stupid!”).
